Pittsboro, NC — The Chatham County Board of Commissioners adopted the 2026-2031 Chatham County Libraries Strategic Plan at its August 17, 2026, meeting. The five-year plan establishes priorities for the continued growth and improvement of Chatham County Public Libraries and provides direction for the Library System over the next five years.
The strategic plan reflects the evolving needs of Chatham County residents and was developed through a community engagement process that included a public survey offered online and in paper format at all three library branches, public focus groups held throughout the County, discussions with Friends of the Library groups, and input from the Library Advisory Committee.
Feedback gathered through this process was used to identify priorities and develop goals for the Library System for the next five years. Maintaining a current strategic plan also supports Chatham County Public Libraries’ eligibility for State Library funding and grant opportunities.
Implementation progress will be made available through the Chatham County Information Hub. Most goals will be updated quarterly, while longer-term goals will be updated twice a year, allowing residents to follow the Library System’s progress toward the plan’s priorities and goals.
