Suspect and victim in Siler City’s Sunday morning’s fatal shooting identified

Siler City, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s department continues to investigate Sunday’s fatal shooting in Siler City. In addition to the earlier report of the shooting, the following information has been confirmed:

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Sergio “Yovani” Rodriguez, 24, of Siler City.

Rodriguez is charged with one count of first degree murder and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The shooting occurred at a residence on Waterford Street, which is off of Fairfax Street in Siler City.

At this time, Rodriguez has not turned himself in and is being sought for questioning related to the case.

The victim has been identified as Jose “Ramon” Hernandez, also of Siler City.
