Greensboro, NC – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2020-21 women’s basketball league schedule on Wednesday. The conference slate begins Dec. 9 and runs through Feb. 28.

“As we begin the women’s basketball season, the health and safety of our student athletes continues to be top priority,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “We applaud the efforts our teams have made to make this season possible and the diligent work of our Medical Advisory Group in conjunction with our campus administrators. Our women’s basketball programs are talented and eager to compete in what we anticipate will be another championship caliber season.”

For the 2020-21 season, ACC women’s basketball will play a 20-game schedule, a two-game increase from last year.

The conference is divided into three regional divisions, with home and away games played against divisional opponents, five home games against non-divisional opponents, and five away games against non-divisional opponents.

The two additional non-divisional games were scheduled by the conference office, with most teams being assigned one home and one away game, with a few exceptions.

The games were added to the schedule from Dec. 9 to Dec. 17, which along with games on Dec. 20 and Dec. 31, allow schools to play four ACC games by the end of the calendar year. Boston College and Georgia Tech will open the conference slate Dec. 9 in Atlanta.

Per NCAA rules, teams can schedule 23 regular-season games and participate in one multiple-team event that includes up to four games, or schedule 25 regular-season games if a team does not compete in a multiple-team event.

The 2021 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held March 3-7 at the Greensboro Coliseum for the 21st time in the last 22 years.

Non-conference schedules, game times and television designations will be announced when available. Any conference games that are unable to be played will only be rescheduled if both teams’ schedules permit it.

The health, safety and well-being of all our campus constituents is at the forefront of all decisions and the schedule announcement follows several months of discussion and scenario planning among the league membership and the ACC’s Medical Advisory Group. The full report from the Medical Advisory Group is available HERE. A revised Medical Advisory Group report for winter sports is expected prior to the start of competition on Nov. 25.

Four ACC teams are listed among the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll, headlined by ACC preseason favorite Louisville at No. 5, No. 8 NC State, No. 22 Notre Dame and No. 23 Syracuse. Florida State, North Carolina, Boston College and Duke are receiving votes.

The ACC has placed at least one Final Four team in five of the past six NCAA Tournaments, and a conference team has advanced to the title game each time.

ACC member institutions have won three NCAA Championships and made 24 trips to the Final Four. Seven different institutions have represented the ACC in the Women’s Final Four.
