Pittsboro, NC – After round one play on Tuesday evening, here are the Chatham County high schools that have made it to round two of the state basketball playoffs and are playing tonight.
Boys
Northwood Chargers (18-9)
#23 Northwood defeated #10 South Durham on Tuesday evening, 48-17. They will play at #7 East Wake at 7 pm Thursday. East Wake defeated #26 Rocky Mount 52-49.
If Northwood wins, they will play the winner of the #2 Northern Nash vs. #18 Dudley game.
Chatham Central (14-9)
#24 Chatham Central defeated #7 Ocracoke, 58-56.
Chatham Central plays at #8 Pamlico on Thursday evening.
If Chatham Central wins, they will have to travel to play the winner of the #1 Washington County vs #16 Weldon game.
Chatham Charter (26-4)
#11 Chatham Charter beat #22 South Stokes, 55-52. Chatham Charter plays at #6 Hayesville at 6:30 pm.
If Chatham Charter wins, they will travel to play the winner of the #3 North Rowan vs #19 Union Academy game.
Woods Charter (0-19) and Jordan-Matthews (6-19) didn’t make the state playoffs this year.
Girls
Chatham Central (20-3)
#4 Chatham Central defeated #29 Voyager, 54-28. If Chatham Central hosts the #13 Henderson Collegiate (17-8) on Thursday at 7 pm.
If the Chatham Central girls win, they will host the winner of the #5 Vance Charter vs #15 Northhampton County on Saturday
Northwood Chargers (17-10)
The #23 Northwood lost to #5 Dudley, 41-35.
The Lady Chargers have been knocked out of the state playoffs.
Chatham Charter (7-20) and Jordan-Matthews (9-16) did not make this year’s girls state basketball playoffs.
First round games began on Tuesday, with the second round on Thursday and the third round on Saturday. All games this week are played at the highest seed.

The fourth round games will be played on March 5 at the highest seed. Regionals will be played March 9. Eastern regionals are in Fayetteville and Greenville, while western regionals are in Hickory.
Winners of the regional games will meet in the state championship games on March 16. 2A and 4A state championships will be played at NC State’s Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. 1A and 3A state championships will be played at UNC’s Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
