Pittsboro, NC – The annual Chatham County middle school basketball tournament begins this Monday, February 11. On Monday the girl teams will begin competition, while the boy teams (with the exception of Horton Middle School) start their first round games on Tuesday.
The first round of the tournament begins with the high seeded schools hosting the lower seeds. The semifinal and championship games will be held at J.S. Waters in Goldston.
On Monday the first round of girl basketball games are scheduled to start at 5 pm. #1 Margaret Pollard will host #8 Chatham Middle, #2 Horton Middle will host #7 J.S. Waters, #3 Bennett will host #6 Moncure and #4 Silk Hope will host #5 Bonlee.
The girl semifinal games are scheduled to be played on Wednesday at 5 pm at this year’s host school, J.S. Waters School in Goldston.
The boys first round basketball games are scheduled to start on Tuesday at 5 pm. #1 Margaret Pollard will host #8 Bonlee, #3 Bennett will host #6 Silk Hope and #4 Moncure will host Chatham Middle.
The #2 Horton Middle School boys will host their game against #7 J.S. Waters on Monday, February 11 at 6:15 pm.
The boy semifinal games are scheduled to be played on Thursday at 5 pm at this year’s host school, J.S. Waters School in Goldston.
WNCA Radio, 1570AM in Siler City will broadcast live from J.S. Waters for the semifinal and championship games.
Admission for first round is $3 for adults and school-age children. The semifinal and championship games fee is $5 for both adults and school-age children
Free admission to all games for those 4 years old and younger; Chatham County Schools employees with identification badges; and those with Chatham County Schools senior passes.
Last year the Margaret Pollard boys and girls basketball teams captured the tournament championships.
