Pittsboro, NC – The steel beams and retaining walls visible at the corner of Andrews Store Road, across from Margaret B. Pollard Middle School, are on the site of Chatham Grove Elementary School, projected to open for students during the fall of 2020.
“Along with the Board of Education, we want to ensure that stakeholder input is sought throughout the project. We received great feedback prior to selecting the school’s name, and now we’re looking for community input again before we establish the attendance zone at Chatham Grove,” Chatham County Schools (CCS) Chief Operations Officer Chris Blice said.
CCS has partnered with N.C. State University’s Operations Research and Education Laboratory, part of the Institute for Transportation Research and Education, to host three sessions for community input. The meetings will take place at North Chatham Elementary School on Feb. 19, Perry Harrison Elementary School on Feb. 21 and Pittsboro Elementary School on Feb. 28. All meetings will be held from 6-7 p.m. Community members are welcome to attend one or more sessions.
“Information about the construction, design and opening for Chatham Grove Elementary will be provided alongside details related to districtwide population growth and trends that affect the school,” Blice said.
Stakeholders will be given an opportunity to pose critical questions and respond to a survey designed to gather additional information for the Chatham County Board of Education to consider while working toward establishing the Chatham Grove Elementary attendance zone. Those unable to attend one of the sessions will be able to participate in the survey that will be available on school websites beginning Feb. 20.
