Pittsboro, NC – On December 24, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of multiple golf carts stolen from Carolina Meadows, a retirement community in Chapel Hill. Deputies responded to the scene and quickly located two of the four golf carts reported stolen. A further search led to the discovery of the remaining two golf carts in the woods across from Carolina Meadows. All four carts were returned to their respective owners.
On March 8, investigators were able to link Ruben Gallardo, 17, of 475 Nature Trail Drive, Lot 286, Chapel Hill, to the larcenies. After conducting multiple interviews, deputies uncovered additional information connecting Gallardo with two more break-ins that had gone unreported.
Investigators charged Ruben Gallardo with three counts of felony larceny and two counts of breaking and entering. He was assigned a $2,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 26.
