Annette Staton Obituary
Annette, most lovingly known as "Ann," was born to Mozzelle Brim and the late John Thomas Brim on June 28, 1956. She departed this life peacefully at home on September 30, 2026.
Annette received her high school diploma from Northwood High School in 1975 and continued her education at CCCC.
On January 1, 1979, Annette married the love of her life, Eugene Staton. Their union of 47 years was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Toniea Staton, and later, two grandchildren, Sahnya and Bryce, whom she adored.
Annette worked at UNC Hospital as a pathologist from 1981 until 2006, a career she thoroughly enjoyed. She was formally recognized in a medical journal at UNC for her dedication and research in the Smithies Lab in the fight to find a cure for sickle cell anemia. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Annette took great pride and joy in caring for her daughter and grandchildren, pouring into them a lifetime of love, wisdom, and guidance.
Annette was a treasured member of Taylor's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities. A fashionable and well-respected First Lady, she also served as a Deaconess, sang soprano in both the Mixed and Gospel choirs, previously served as an usher, and was the dedicated Sunday School Secretary for more than 35 years.
Annette had an undeniable sense of style, and shopping was one of her favorite pastimes. She also had a great love for music and sports, especially basketball. Family and friends will fondly remember many things about Ann, including her famous pinto beans and fried chicken. Whether enjoying good music, cheering on a basketball game, shopping, cooking, or simply sharing laughter with those around her, Annette brought her own special presence to every moment.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Thomas Brim; grandparents, Thomas Reaves, Della Peoples Reaves, George Brim, and Laura Wooten Brim; mother-in-law, Lessie Staton; father-in-law, William Staton; grandmother-in-law, Jessie Staton & brothers-in-law, Michael Staton, Toni Staton, and Kenneth Staton.
Annette leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted husband, Pastor William Eugene Staton, whom she lovingly called "Gene"; her mother, Mozzelle Brim; her daughter, Toniea Staton; grandchildren, Sahnya and Bryce Jones; siblings, Kimberly Brim (Darren), Randy Brim (Annie Mae), Wayne Brim (Melvina), George Brim (Elaine), Tim Perry (Tracy), Stacy Bright (Dennis), Bianca Brim-Scurlock (Preston), and Brandon Brim; sisters-in-law, Wonda Staton, Lemetrius "Peaches" Staton, and Pamela Staton; brother-in-law, Reginald Petty; nieces, Antoinette, Jasmin (Brandon), Kyndra, Laurie, Kenecia, Qualeya, Shaquelia, Christine, Angela, Tiffany, Aleeyah, Camryn, Na'Ziya, Amani, Jenesys, Kimiyah, and Ebony; nephews, Jalyn, Lyriq, Michael, Kenneth Jr., and Michael II; lifelong friend, Jenny Seltzer; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Carlene Farrar Obituary
Mrs. Carlene Nickerson Farrar, age 87, of Pittsboro, NC, entered eternal rest peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Pittsboro Health and Rehab, Pittsboro, NC.
Carlene was born August 6, 1939, in Chatham County, North Carolina, to the late William and Minnie Alice Nickerson. As the last surviving of nine siblings, she carried the stories, traditions, and strength of a treasured generation.
She was united in marriage to the late London Farrar. Carlene was the proud and devoted mother of four beautiful daughters. Her faith in God was at the heart of her life, and her family was the center of everything else.
As a homemaker and housekeeper, Carlene brought order, comfort, and warmth wherever she served. Carlene was soft-spoken but her presence was strong. Gardening was one of Carlene's special joys. She found peace in the soil and pleasure in watching something beautiful grow. Her flowers reflected her own life; gently nurtured, quietly beautiful, and deeply rooted.
For many years, Carlene was a faithful member of Terrell's Chapel. She lifted her voice as a member of the choir, served as church treasurer, and helped lead many of the church's fundraisers.
Carlene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Alice Nickerson; her husband, London Farrar; her brothers, Ben Nickerson, Pete (Ross) Nickerson, Raymond Nickerson, John Nickerson, and Herbert Nickerson; her sisters, Omie Lee Alston, Zella Phillips, and Annie "Sista" Baldwin; and her grandchildren, Kim Abu-Bakr, Dione Farrar, and Kobe Boyd.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Joann Farrar Drew (Carlos), Mary Farrar, Lolitha Farrar and Felicia Farrar Alston (Ken); her grandchildren, Kelvin Farrar, Kelley Abu-Bakr, Aubrey Burnette (Ashley), and Kaleb Alston; her great grandchildren, Brianna Rucker, Amiyah Farrar, Antwan Clemmons, Alaina Pinson, Malachi Franks, Ja'Kiya Thorpe Burnette, Jakari Thorpe Burnette and Taylin Farrar; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in- laws.
