Siler City, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has charged four people in connection with the theft of multiple vehicles and vehicle parts from a property on Stockyard Road in Siler City.
On Aug. 12, 2026, deputies responded to a larceny call at 1926 Stockyard Road. During their investigation, deputies learned that a 2008 Toyota Prius had been taken from the property. The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as stolen but was later located with the assistance of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol at Liberty Recycling Center.
Surveillance footage from the recycling center showed Dustin Ryan Stout, 40, of 6190 Bonlee Bennett Rd., Bear Creek, bringing the vehicle to the business on Aug. 11. CCSO Investigators determined that Jeremy Lenel Palmer, 42, of 137 Kime Ave., Liberty and Carrie Anne Mote, 34, also of 137 Kime Ave., Liberty, sold the vehicle to the recycling center after removing its catalytic converter, rims and tires.
“We appreciate the partnership we have with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and their assistance in this investigation,” Sheriff Steve Maynor said. “Our agencies work together regularly, and that cooperation is an important part of keeping our communities safe.”
Shawn Michael Seeley, 48, of 14226 NC 902, Bear Creek, was also identified during the investigation. Seeley told investigators that he would return a boat and motorcycle that had been reported missing from the property.
Mote was charged with three counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of felony possession of stolen property, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense, one count of felony possession of a catalytic converter and one count of felony larceny of motor vehicle parts.
Palmer was charged with three counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of felony possession of stolen property, one count of felony conspiracy, one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense, one count of felony possession of a catalytic converter and one count of felony larceny of motor vehicle parts.
Stout was charged with three counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of felony possession of stolen property and one count of felony conspiracy.
Seeley was charged with two counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of felony possession of stolen property and one count of felony conspiracy.
The charges against Mote, Palmer, Stout and Seeley have not yet been served.
