Northwood boys and girls to play in NCHSAA Basketball Tournament final four

Pittsboro, NC – Saturday was a very good day for the Northwood basketball teams. Both the boys and the girls won their third-round games on Saturday to advance to the NCHSAA 3A East basketball finals on Tuesday.

Chargers are returning to the final four for a second straight year after knocking off Terry Sanford 43-41 in Fayetteville.

Northwood (13-2) never pulled too far ahead of Terry Sanford (11-2). The game was tied 25-25 at halftime and 35-35 to start the fourth quarter. The game was won in the last minute.

Top scorers for Northwood were Troy Arnold with 12 points, Colby Burleson with 10, Drake Powell had nine, and Jarid Stevenson had eight.

The #13 seed Chargers (14-2) will face #6 seed West Carteret Patriots (11-2) in Morehead City on Tuesday at 6 pm.
