Chatham Central boys, Northwood boys and girls advance to second round of NCHSAA basketball tournament

Pittsboro, NC – Three of the five Chatham County high school basketball teams won their first round tournament games and get to move onto round two.

The #13 seed Chatham Central Bears boys team defeated the #4 seed Hiwassee Dam by a score of 74-71. They will travel to face #5 seed Lincoln Charter on Thursday. Lincoln Charter advanced by defeating #12 seed Murphy 91-49.

The #5 seed Northwood girls basketball team won Tuesday’s home playoff game against the #12 seed E.E. Smith by a score of 58-51. They will travel to face #4 seed Terry Sanford on Thursday at 7 pm. Terry Sanford advanced by defeating #13 seed Jacksonville 60-27.

The #13 seed Northwood boys basketball team won Tuesday’s away playoff game against the #4 seed Rocky Mount by a score of 53-46. They will travel to face #5 seed D.H. Conley on Thursday at 7 pm. D.H. Conley advanced by defeating #12 seed Southern Durham, 50-47.
