Pittsboro, NC – On December 21, 2020, Chatham County Manager Dan LaMontagne gave a special presentation at the Board of Commissioners regular meeting recognizing the county’s 2020 Employee of the Year. However, instead of honoring one employee, all 533 Chatham County government employees were named Employee of the Year.

LaMontagne’s presentation showed numerous visuals from throughout the year demonstrating how county employees have served the community through impactful events, activities and programs. This was no ordinary year, though. The county has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic for most of 2020, then it experienced a cyber incident in late October.
Chatham County staff were asked to submit nominations for 2020 Employee of the Year. The Personnel Committee received many qualified nominees.
“There were so many deserving nominees, and it was an impossible decision to select just one,” said LaMontagne. “It has been an unprecedented year navigating two major crises, and every single employee has stepped up to adapt so that Chatham County could continue providing our critical services to the community. I could not be more proud of the teamwork, innovation and resilience of Chatham County staff.”
