Chapel Hill, NC – With 2021 right around the corner, hiring for Wegmans Food Markets’ next two North Carolina stores is underway. They mark the company’s third and fourth stores in the state since it opened its Raleigh store in September 2019. Wegmans is looking for nearly 900 employees to join their Chapel Hill and Wake Forest teams.

Chapel Hill
With an opening date set for late February, store manager Rick Walters and his team are preparing to hire nearly 300 part-time positions for the 99,000 sq. ft. store located at 1810 Fordham Boulevard, Chapel Hill, NC. These openings span a variety of positions across every department in the store, from chefs to customer service representatives. Hiring for 165 full-time jobs began in August and select openings remain, such as cooks and overnight grocery. In total, the Chapel Hill store will employ nearly 450 people, some of whom will be internal, transferring from Raleigh and West Cary.
“While our opening is still a few months away, we have already met many great applicants and are excited to continue building our team,” said Chapel Hill Store Manager Rick Walters. “Wegmans has a long-standing reputation of being a great place to work and that comes from hiring employees who demonstrate the values our company is based on, such as respect, empowerment, and high standards.”
Wake Forest
Located at 11051 Ligon Mill Road, Wake Forest, NC, hiring has begun for nearly 200 full-time positions for the 104,000 sq. ft. store, set to open in May. Available full-time positions include everything from entry-level management to culinary professionals.
“As our company expands in North Carolina, there is a big opportunity for employees to advance their careers,” said Wake Forest Store Manager Patrick McGuinness. “My team is looking for candidates who share our passion for food and are eager to learn and grow with us. We have many employees who begin in one position and move into different roles depending on their interest.”
Employment at Wegmans offers competitive pay and benefits, flexible scheduling, and a workplace known for a caring, family atmosphere. The Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program is a unique point of pride for the family company. Since the program began in 1984, more than 40,000 Wegmans employees have been awarded scholarships totaling $125 million.
Interested applicants, 16-years and older, for either store can apply online at jobs.wegmans.com. Applications are not accepted at the store construction site. Interviews are conducted at an off-site hiring office.
