Taking a jackhammer to my shoulder

By N.A. Booko

Pittsboro, NC – As mentioned before, the past three days have been heavenly lazy daze paradise. I got so much done. But good heavens. This morning when I awoke, the pain in my left shoulder-blade was dreadful. I have never been so affected. And at this writing hasn’t eased off any. A friend assured me that it was only the pain of emerging wings. Soon it will all be over? All over? Ye gads! I somehow suspected my term here would end with a bang, but not by flying off into the wild blue yonder.

And mind you, this is a spot you can’t see nor touch. A back scratcher was a minor help, but this ’emergence’ (if that is really what it is), is really painful. I did manage to spread a little glycerin on the spot. I am a firm believer that if something wants to come out ( boil, pimple, splinter, etc) glycerin goes a long way in helping it ‘slip’ out. It seems safe and non toxic.

I am discounting the idea that stress, age and the weather has anything to do with it. It is just one of those special things that happen to special people- Just somehow, it selected the wrong person. And goodness, if it is only one wing? I’ll be the laffing stock of the coop. Not to mention, those Hawaii shirts just ain’t going to fit properly.

Any of you out there already already flying high?
