Pittsboro, NC – Are you a Chatham County artist or arts-worker who could use some financial assistance during this pandemic? Chatham Arts Council’s CAARE initiative is here to help.

With COVID-19 seemingly here to stay for a while, artists’ livelihoods are being challenged like never before. You may have heard that the Chatham Arts Council has put together a relief effort specifically for artists and arts-workers called CAARE; Chatham Artist and Arts-Worker Relief Effort. The goal is to get immediate assistance to Chatham County artists and arts-workers (e.g., exhibition managers, gallery owners, stage managers, arts nonprofit administrators, sound techs, etc.) who are struggling with the economic impact of the pandemic.
What does this look like? CAARE seeks to help with basic financial needs for artists and arts-workers like providing money to buy groceries, to pay for heart meds, to pay rent. CAARE was created with initial seed money generously granted by Manbites Dog Theater Fund, and a substantial boost to sustain the fund by Triangle Community Foundation. So far, we’ve distributed more than $10,000 to artists in need. After a strong response from our artist community, the well ran dry, but Manbites Dog Theater Fund was kind enough to donate additional funds to the relief effort. That’s why we want to remind our community about this unique and meaningful opportunity again.
Applications for CAARE are available at: ChathamArtsCouncil.org. Disbursements are made weekly!
Chatham County is an amazing place to live. It’s full of creativity and community spirit at every corner. The Chatham Arts Council wants to remind you that we’re all in this together and CAARE is here to help.
