Voters can request an absentee ballot from the Chatham Board of Elections

Republicans usually are not entirely enamored with them, as we think they have been a path to fraud and abuse in many places in the past.

However, the conditions this year have changed things. Many people out there are in vulnerability groups and are reasonably worried about coming out when they don’t have to. There is no way of telling whether things will be any better in October or November. We encourage all to get out and vote this year.

We suggest you request an absentee ballot from the Board of Elections. The electronic and printed versions are both available from their link.

The Chatham GOP has an ample supply of printed ballot request forms in pre-addressed envelopes at our headquarters on 56 Sanford Rd. (next to The Mod restaurant). The Board of Elections will start sending out absentee ballots on September 4. When you get it, you can mail yours in, or hold onto it as insurance for later in the year. If you decide to vote in person, the Board of Elections will validate your ballot once it determines that you haven’t already sent in the absentee ballot.

This is not a ballot by mail, absentee ballots are by request only and are not sent out en masse. I encourage all to consider sending a request in if you have any doubts at all about voting in person.
