Pittsboro, NC – Investigators have charged Kenneth Joseph Bass Jr., 18, and Shyquaule Javon Fisher, 25, both of Dobbins Drive in Chapel Hill with second-degree murder (and several related offenses).
These charges are in connection with the shooting death of Emerson David Batsche, age 20, of 15 Artis Cotton Rd in Bear Creek on May 20, 2020.


Along with second-degree murder, Bass is charged with felony aid and abet armed robbery and obstruction of justice. Fisher is charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and obstruction of justice.

[Update 6.9.20 13:52 EDT] Kenneth Bass Jr. was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office today and jailed under a $200,000 secured bond.
He is scheduled for a first appearance in Pittsboro on July 20.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Shyquaule Javon Fisher is encouraged to call 9-1-1. The investigation is still ongoing.
