Which Chatham high schools have made it into the state basketball playoffs?

Pittsboro, NC – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) finalized the state boys & girls basketball state playoffs on Saturday.

Here’s where local Chatham County high school landed up:

Boys

Northwood Chargers (17-9)
#23 Northwood plays at #10 South Durham.
If Northwood wins, they will play the winner of game between #7 East Wake and #26 Rocky Mount.

Chatham Central (13-9)
#24 Chatham Central plays at #7 Ocracoke.
If Chatham Central wins, they will play the winner of the #25 Franklin Academy versus #8 Pamlico.

Chatham Charter (26-4)
#11 Chatham Charter plays host to #22 South Stokes.
If Chatham Central wins, they will play the winner of the game between #6 Hayesville and #27 Highland school of Technology.

Woods Charter (0-19) and Jordan-Matthews (6-19) won’t be part of this year’s state basketball playoffs.

Girls

Northwood Chargers (17-9)
#23 Northwood plays at #5 Dudley.
If Northwood wins, they will play the winner of game between #12 Terry Sanford and #21 Rockingham County.

Chatham Central (19-3)
#4 Chatham Central hosts #29 Voyager.
If Chatham Central wins, they will host the winner of the #13 Henderson Collegiate versus #20 South Davidson.

Chatham Charter (7-20) and Jordan-Matthews (9-16) did not make this year’s girls state basketball playoffs.

First round games are slated to begin on Tuesday, with the second round on Thursday and the third round on Saturday. All games this week are played at the highest seed.

The fourth round games will be played on March 5 at the highest seed. Regionals will be played March 9. Eastern regionals are in Fayetteville and Greenville, while western regionals are in Hickory.

Winners of the regional games will meet in the state championship games on March 16. 2A and 4A state championships will be played at NC State’s Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. 1A and 3A state championships will be played at UNC’s Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
