Pittsboro, NC – Here’s my quick video review of the new hotter Cackalacky sauce made of sweet potatoes and Carolina Reaper peppers. Cackalaky is a Chatham county based company located in Pittsboro.
I first had a taste of the original spicy sauce when i picked up a bottle at Costco. While I’m not a big fan of sweet potato, I did enjoy the taste. Based on customers’ request for a spicier version, owner Page Skelton and his wife Caroline developed a hotter taste sensation. The secret appears to be adding the Carolina Reaper pepper to the mix of ingredients.
Bred in a Rock Hill, South Carolina greenhouse by “Smokin” Ed Currie, proprietor of the Pucker Butt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, the Carolina Reaper was certified as the world’s hottest chili pepper by the Guinness World Records since August 7, 2013. The pepper has been described as having a fruity taste, with the initial bite being sweet and then immediately turning to “molten lava”
Cackalacky products are offered at grocery stores around the state. The new hotter sauce will be available locally in Pittsboro, NC at Chatham Marketplace, The Phoenix Bakery, Small B&B Cafe – and the Cackalacky® Super Site – beginning later this week!
I enjoyed the sweet potato taste with a nice Carolina Reaper hot pepper kick. I recommend you try a bottle.
