Chapel Hill, NC – On December 20, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office assisted Athens County, Ohio, Prosecutor’s Office by conducting a search at 73 Grovewood Lane, Chapel Hill.
The resident of this address, Michelle Lowery-Rowan, 46, is a suspect in multiple felonies involving an Anthens County non-profit organization called “Chix 4 a Cure” which raises funds for cancer patients and their families. Lowery-Rowan, formerly a resident of Glouster, Ohio, and treasurer for “Chix 4 a Cure” is accused of money laundering, grand theft, telecommunications fraud, tampering with records, forgery, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Lowery-Rowan was jailed under a $750,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on January 8, 2018. Lowery-Rowan will be extradited to Ohio to face the allegations.
