Pittsboro, NC— Chatham County residents are invited to attend one of several community meetings in different locations across the county to learn about and provide feedback on two major planning efforts underway. Note that two meetings (June 21 and 23) give residents the chance to weigh in on both planning efforts at the same time.
Chatham County Comprehensive Plan Input: The Comprehensive Plan is an initiative of Chatham County Government to produce a policy document that will guide the county’s development over the next 25 years. The Comprehensive Plan will reflect the community’s priorities and a careful analysis of data and existing policy documents. Development of the plan is expected to conclude in April 2017.
Residents attending these meetings are asked to share ideas on: the best parts of Chatham County; needed improvements for your community; suggested goals to shape the county’s future (long and short-term); and what is most important to your community.

Draft Chatham Comprehensive Transportation Plan: The name sounds very similar to the one above, but it is a separate (but related) transportation planning effort through the NC Department of Transportation (DOT). The plan’s goal is to foster better informed decisions on DOT’s transportation priorities for Chatham County over the next 25-30 years.
Chatham County, Goldston, Pittsboro, Siler City, the Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization, and DOT jointly developed the draft transportation plan that will be presented at the meetings. Maps and other documentation of the plan can be viewed here.
To provide feedback on this draft plan, residents can stop by any time. There will be no formal presentations provided, but staff will be on hand to answer questions and accept comments. Note that June 21 and 23 options below are the same as the schedule above, so that attendees can weigh on both plans at the same time.
