Concord, NC – Southern Grace Distilleries, of Concord, NC is sponsoring a contest to pick a North Carolina animal shelter to receive a donation for every bottle sold of their award-winning Sun Dog 130 Moonshine sold in North Carolina in 2016. Southern Grace Distilleries announced this week they are moving their distilling operations to a former NC Prison in Cabarrus County this fall.
The Goathouse Refuge is among the ten organizations competing in the final round of voting to choose the 2016 winner. The winner of the 2015 Sun Dog 130 contest was Friends of Animal Services of Onslow County. It was chosen by an online vote on Facebook. “It has been a gift to have the support of Southern Grace Distilleries throughout this year. Their generosity has allowed us to provide additional funds in cases of medical emergencies to help shelter pets with life altering surgeries; giving them an opportunity for health and happiness that would otherwise not have been possible. To everyone that has purchased Sun Dog 130, you have helped to make the world of our shelter friends a better place. Thank you,” said Jennifer Monteforte, Friends of Animal Services.
People who want to support the Goathouse Refuge can vote for them in the competition that ends at midnight on May 31st. The contest is being conducted on Facebook and the finalist won the opportunity to compete in the final round after initially competing with more than 60 shelters who qualified to participate. “It is exciting to see so many wonderful organizations participate in this contest and to see the good that has come from our donation. My dear Mia enjoyed a party, and she enjoyed the company of cool, kind people and their pets. This contest and donation is intended to honor her memory and make a tangible contribution to people who have committed their lives to the humane, loving care of animals,” said Thomas Thacker, COO of Southern Grace Distilleries. The Sun Dog 130 label features Mia, as the Sun Dog.
“We have been honored to partner with Friends of Animal Services this last year and look forward to partnering with the winner of our contest this year. There are so many worthy shelters doing great work in North Carolina and we are proud to play a part in raising awareness and supporting their efforts,” said Leanne Powell, President of Southern Grace Distilleries.
