Commissioners Bock, Petty, and Stewart’s vision for Chatham County

Imagine an educational system where everybody is working together, where we acknowledge, one size doesn’t fit all. Further imagine a system where every child receives a quality education regardless of address or household income. Now imagine that graduates from this system can live and work in Chatham. A system where our commissioners, school board, charter schools, EDC, and the community college work as ONE team with ONE goal.

A non-lawyer on the Supreme Court?

President Obama plans to appoint National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg to the United States Supreme Court. Not really, of course. Totenberg may know more than most lawyers about the Supreme Court from her experience as an award-winning legal affairs correspondent for NPR. But she is not a lawyer, and you have to be a lawyer to be on the court. Don’t you?

Chatham to dedicate 9/11 First Responders Memorial in Pittsboro on September 6

The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony for the Chatham County First Responders’ Memorial at 3 p.m. September 6 in Pittsboro. The memorial incorporates the 19-foot steel beam artifact from the World Trade Center tragedy, donated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The memorial honors all first responders who have given their lives to keep others safe, including those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.
