Chatham Literacy seeks tutors for adult learners

The Chatham County Literacy Council (Chatham Literacy), a Pittsboro-based non-profit, is seeking volunteer tutors for its adult literacy programs, which help adults improve their reading, writing, math or English-language skills through one-on-one and small-group instruction. According to the Census Bureau’s most recent American Community Survey, 6.4% of Chatham County adults speak English less than “very well,” greater than the state’s 4.9%. In the Siler City area, the figure is more than 30%.
