2010 Census shows Chatham County population increased to 63,505

On March 2, 2011, the Census Bureau released the 2010 Census results for North Carolina. The Census Bureau reports that Chatham County’s population grew from 49,329 in 2000 to 63,505 in 2010, a 28.74% increase. Thirty-four counties in North Carolina grew by more than 15% from 2000 to 2010, including Chatham, Durham, Wake, Harnett, Lee, Moore and Alamance. The entire state grew by 18.5% to more than 9.5 million people.
