Pittsboro, NC – On Sunday, April 13, the Central Carolina Community College transformed into a vibrant hub of activity as Clydefest 2025 brought together families and friends for an afternoon filled with entertainment, local cuisine, and artistic expression. From engaging activities for children to live performances and local vendors, Clydefest showcased the best of the community, inviting everyone to participate in the festivities.
Introduction to Clydefest
Clydefest is an annual family-friendly festival held in Chatham County, celebrating folk art and creativity, particularly focusing on activities for children. It is designed to be a fun-filled day for kids and families, featuring a variety of activities that encourage creativity and play. This year, it took place on a sunny Sunday afternoon, drawing in families, local artists, and vendors from the surrounding areas. The event, which ran from noon to 4 PM, featured a variety of activities, performances, and food options, making it an ideal outing for families looking to enjoy the day together.

As I navigated through the festival grounds, I noted the excitement in the air and the variety of options available for both children and adults. The festival began as a tribute to Clyde Jones, who is famous for his whimsical, chainsaw-carved “critters.” His creations have gained national recognition, being displayed in prestigious venues like the Smithsonian Institution and the American Visionary Art Museum.
The first Clydefest took place in 2002, marking the beginning of an annual tradition aimed at engaging families and children in hands-on arts experiences. It quickly became a beloved local event, drawing participants from Chatham County and beyond.
Over the years, Clydefest has evolved into a significant community event, attracting more than 2,500 attendees annually. The festival has grown significantly since its inception, prompting its relocation from it’s original location in Bynum to the larger Central Carolina Community College campus. The move allowed organizers to accommodate a greater number of vendors, activities, and attendees, making it a more inclusive event. This year’s festival featured an impressive lineup of local artists, food trucks, and entertainment, ensuring there was something for just about everyone.
Food and Local Vendors
One of the standout features of Clydefest 2025 was the array of food options. Local vendors showcased farm-raised products, with offerings from favorites like The Pig and Cow, which provided attendees with choices between beef and pork.

In my walk-through, I mentioned a popular booth where children could paint piggy banks, a creative activity that allowed them to take home a personalized souvenir from the event. You needed to get down here before they run out, highlighting the popularity of the craft stations.

Throughout the day, Clydefest featured live performances from local musicians and artists, adding to the festive atmosphere. There was various performances scheduled throughout the event, and I encouraged folks to come out and enjoy the live music and dance.
