District Spelling Bee
The district Spelling Bee was held on February 8th at Seaforth High School. Eighteen students participated in the event and the winner was Sydney Gray from Margaret B. Pollard Middle School. Sydney will go on to compete at the 2022 Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling Bee in March. Micah Debolt, Dana Sudhir and Ryan Serem respectively finished second, third and fourth in the event, all Margaret B. Pollard Middle School students.
JMHS Student Scholarship
Jordan-Matthews High School student Evelin Ortiz-Munoz is a semifinalist for the prestigious Cooke College Scholarship. This highly selective scholarship provides high-achieving students up to $55,000 annually for four years of college. Cooke College Scholarship semifinalists were chosen from a pool of more than 5,300 applicants. Semifinalist applications will be reviewed again to choose approximately 60 finalists to receive the scholarship. They will be announced in April. Best of luck to Evelin!
CCHS Morehead Finalist
Chatham Central High School student Carleigh Gentry is a finalist for the University of North Carolina’s (UNC) Morehead-Cain Scholarship. The scholarship covers all expenses for four years of undergraduate study at UNC-Chapel Hill and features distinctive summer enrichment experiences designed to stretch students beyond their comfort zones. Congratulations to Carleigh!
Northwood High School Girls Basketball Team – State 3A Champions
