Pittsboro, NC – The Laurels of Chatham has reported two new coronavirus-related deaths among its residents, bringing the total number of deaths there to 21, according to data released by N.C. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday.
The two additional deaths make the nursing home’s death total the most in the state, according to state data released on congregate living facilities. Twelve residents at the nursing home have died in the past week alone.
There have been 108 positive cases of COVID-19 at the facility, according to the data. 39 of the cases are staff members and 69 are residents. All 21 deaths are residents.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Chatham County had 541 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases and 24 deaths.
