Body of teenage drowning victim recovered from Jordan Lake

Moncure, NC – On Monday afternoon, at 3:33 p.m., the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office was notified of, and responded to, a possible drowning in Jordan Lake near the Moncure area.

A witness reported that a male in his late teens was swimming in Jordan Lake near the area of Clark Poe Road when the witness observed the victim to be struggling to stay above the waterline.

Rescue units from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Moncure Fire Department, North Chatham Fire Department, North Carolina State Parks Police, North Carolina Wildlife Law Enforcement, Army Corps of Engineers, First Health of the Carolinas, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded to the scene to assist with the search and rescue effort.

That effort ended at 6:35pm with the recovery of the body of the victim, whose name was not released at that time in order to be sure that the family was first notified. There are no other known victims missing at this time.

UPDATE (5.5.20 2:01 pm EDT): The name of yesterday’s drowning victim in Jordan Lake is Fuad Nagi Busisou, age 19, of Raleigh.
