Pittsboro, NC – Both the Chatham County Board of Health and Planning Board have vacancies to fill and seek qualified applicants.

- The Board of Health vacancy is designated for a professional engineer, as provided by state law. The person appointed would complete an existing three-year term ending June 30, 2020 and would be eligible for reappointment for up to two additional three-year terms. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 18, 2019, at 5 pm.
- The Planning Board has two vacancies, one representing county commissioner District 4 in northwest Chatham and the other representing commissioner District 5 in southwest Chatham. Both of these appointees would serve terms expiring on December 31, 2022. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 28, 2018, at 5 pm.

The Board of Health meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month

ABOUT THE PLANNING BOARD: The Planning Board advises the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on
planning, zoning and subdivision issues. Specific powers and duties
include: monitoring trends related to land use, proposing needed
amendments to the land use plan, establishing development principles and
guidelines; proposing
ordinances for orderly development in accordance with the land use
plan; determining whether proposed developments conform to the land use
plan and development principles; and keeping the county commissioners
and the public informed on planning issues and reasons for board
recommendations.
The Planning Board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM,
usually in one of the county facilities in Pittsboro. All members are
appointed by the Board of Commissioners, with each commissioner having
two appointments, including one residing in the commissioner’s district.
Terms expire when the appointing commissioner’s term expires. Note that
