Chatham County offers free Christmas tree recycling

Pittsboro, NC – Chatham County Solid Waste & Recycling offers free Christmas tree recycling at the Main Facility at 28 County Services Road in Pittsboro through Friday, January 19.

Trees can be accepted Monday through Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm except Monday, January 1 and Monday, January 15 when the Main Facility will be closed for holidays. Only real trees can be accepted. All decorations, stands, and pots must be removed. After these dates, we will accept live trees for our normal yard debris charge of $20 per ton, $2 minimum.

NOTE: Artificial Christmas trees, lights, and gift wrapping can also be recycled at the Main Facility and collection centers. Tell the center’s attendant what you have when you get to the center and they will direct you.
