Duke’s Nolan Smith and Maryland’s Terrell Stoglin earn weekly ACC honors

Greensboro, NC – Duke’s Nolan Smith has been selected as the ACC Player of the Week and Maryland’s Terrell Stoglin is the ACC Rookie of the Week following their outstanding performances.

In earning the award for the second-straight week and third time this season, Smith averaged 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in leading fifth-ranked Duke to wins over Virginia and Georgia Tech. The Upper Marlboro, Md., senior was 19-of-37 (.514) from the field on the week, including 6-of-12 (.500) from 3-point range. Smith opened the week with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a road win at Virginia. In Sunday’s win over Georgia Tech, Smith scored a game-high 28 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

Stoglin averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 assists during the week, as Maryland lost to Virginia Tech, 91-83, and won at home over NC State, 87-80. The Tucson, Ariz., freshman had 25 points in Blacksburg, including a 10-for-10 effort at the line. He also had a team-high six assists in 28 minutes. On Sunday against the Wolfpack, he matched his season-high of 25 points, going 8-for-14 from the floor, 9-for-10 at the line and dishing out nine assists, the most by a Terrapin this season.
