Chatham County Board of Commissioners election methods

by Mike Pool

Pittsboro, NC – According to the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners, the Democratic Party has held a majority on the Chatham County Board 16 of the past 20 years.

County Commissioners are elected either at large, by a district, a combination of the two, or via a limited voting system.

In Chatham County we nominate and elect using the at large method and the Commissioner is required to reside in district.
